The Hong Kong Jockey Club University of Chicago Academic Complex | The University of Chicago Francis and Rose Yuen Campus in Hong Kong is a hybrid complex comprising an icon local heritage, the ex-Victoria Road Detention Centre, and a newly built modern teaching centre. PYE, as the main contractor, cooperated with Revery Architecture Inc. and Revival Heritage Consultants Ltd., in skillfully transforming the Grade 3 historic building, into the modern campus of The University of Chicago Hong Kong. We successfully tackled different challenges during construction, and delivered an iconic sustainability landmark and world-class education infrastructure to Hong Kong.

The Mills is a landmark revitalization project constructed by PYE, Nan Fung Design (Design Architect) and Thomas Chow Architects Ltd. (Executive Architect). The project involved demolition, alteration, addition and restoration of three former cotton mills, Mill 4, 5 and 6, and included installation of props, demolition of slabs and beams, structural strengthening and alteration. Merging the old and new design features involved comprehensive structural alteration of the buildings, making the project one of our challenging undertakings to date. With new programmes and initiatives, the project aims to preserve a lost heritage and establish new local possibilities for innovation, culture and learning.

Established in 1965, HKIA Annual Awards is organised every year, with a purpose of giving professional recognition and increasing public awareness to outstanding achievements in architecture, which is well recognized as the most important architectural award given in Hong Kong.
