Paul Y. Engineering Donates Children’s Furniture to Hong Kong’s Ethnic Minority Families at “Make Your Own Furniture” Event2019-06-19
Paul Y. Engineering, Chu Hai College of Higher Education, Hong Kong and HKSKH Lady MacLehose Centre co-organised "Make Your Own Furniture", a fun and educational programme at Ping Lai Path, Kwai Chung, a predominantly ethnic minority area in Hong Kong. At the event, a volunteer team from our Group and students from Department of Architecture of Chu Hai College of Higher Education, Hong Kong, and ethnic minority children from the area came together to paint children's furniture with design elements related to sustainability.
Supported and sponsored by Paul Y. Engineering, "Make Your Own Furniture" also involved the donation of the furniture, designed and produced by students from the Department of Architecture of Chu Hai College of Higher Education, to ethnic minority families. It was the culmination of another event in November 2018, when the students participated in the International Design Workshop named "Back to Earth Construction Digital Fabrication Workshop - Making Children's Furniture Using Construction Waste Material", at which they used sustainable construction materials to design various types of children's furniture. Using the knowledge and skills gained at the workshop, the students then made use of sustainable construction materials donated by the Group from our construction sites to design five types of storage-friendly foldable desks and shelves suited to the needs of ethnic minority families with smaller living space. More than ten families benefitted from "Make Your Own Furniture".
As a responsible corporate citizen, Paul Y. Engineering has long supported the local community. This activity includes the inheritance of knowledge, experience, resources, care and love. We will continue to support community growth through education, charity and volunteering works in the future.
