Paul Y. Engineering Wins FuturArc Green Leadership Award 2019

2019-05-28

Paul Y. Engineering has received the Merit Award in the FuturArc Green Leadership Award 2019 with the project of The University of Chicago Hong Kong Campus (UCCHK). The recognition demonstrates our sound performance in innovation and environmental stewardship of UCCHK.

The project comprised preservation of the ex-Victoria Road Detention Centre, an iconic heritage building, and construction of the Treehouse, a new modern teaching centre. As the main contractor, our Group played a pivotal role in the transformation of the Grade 3 historic building, located on a slope amidst abundant greenery along Victoria Road on Mount Davis, into the new modern campus, setting a benchmark for local preservation projects.

Construction of this three-storey permanent campus posed considerable challenges as well, including site formation, foundation, demolition, landscaping, building services, heritage and concrete repair works. Our team took it in their stride. From determining logistical support to building a foundation on a slope and preserving the heritage building, our team handled each hurdle with professionalism and confidence gained through long years of experience, and successfully delivered an iconic sustainability landmark and top-notch education infrastructure to Hong Kong.

“FuturArc Green Leadership Award” is launched in 2009 by FuturArc Journal, a well-known architecture award in Asia. The award aims to promote quality green building design. The judge panel consists of world-renowned architects, scholars and other professionals. They select eco-friendly buildings with innovative concepts in Asia-Pacific and present awards to project teams in recognition of their effort to promote green buildings.
