The University of Chicago Hong Kong Campus
Paul Y. Engineering has extensive experience in undertaking the educational infrastructure, thoroughly understanding the needs and expectations of educational institutions, which was explicitly demonstrated in these two projects. Located at Victoria Road, Mount Davis, the University of Chicago Hong Kong Campus is a hybrid complex. The project comprised preservation of the ex-Victoria Road Detention Centre, an iconic heritage building called “White House”, and construction of the Treehouse, a new modern teaching centre. As the main contractor, Paul Y. Construction of the three-storey institution posed considerable challenges, including site formation, foundation, demolition, landscaping, building services, heritage and concrete repair works. Paul Y. Engineering’s team took it in their stride. From determining logistical support to building a foundation on a slope and preserving the heritage building, they handled each hurdle with professionalism and confidence gained through long years of experience. Construction was completed before the new school year, presenting students with a brand new campus and Hong Kong with an iconic sustainability landmark.
