Paul Y. Engineering Wins Construction Manager of the Year Gold Award 20162017-09-15
Results of the Construction Manager of the Year Awards (CMYA) 2016 in Hong Kong organised by The Chartered Institute of Building (Hong Kong), were announced on 8 September. Mr. Kwan Kai-hon, Alan, Senior Project Manager of the Group heading the Re-provisioning of Kennedy Town Swimming Pool (Phase 2) project was the proud recipient of the Gold Award of the New Works and A&A Works Category.
Mr. Kwan has over 20 years of experience in building construction, and has worked on many of Paul Y. Engineering’s large projects in Hong Kong and Macau. The panel of judges commended his prominent leadership in the Re-provisioning of Kennedy Town Swimming Pool (Phase 2) project, especially in overcoming various challenges encountered by the team. The jury highlighted the extreme complexity of the project, which involved structural steel components and innovative technologies including BIM. The project was completed ahead time with the final account settled within a month after completion. Furthermore, Mr. Kwan’s demonstration of strong leadership with forward planning and collaboration ensured good relationships with clients and stakeholders. Application of the NEC3 contract and risk management were also noted.
The CMYA Awards is a biennial event which recognises and honours distinguished project managers for their achievements in construction project management. The judging criteria includes performances in management planning, safety, quality control, financial management and overcoming challenges.
