Paul Y. Engineering Wins Two HKIPM Project Management Achievement Awards2017-05-02
Paul Y.- Yau Lee Joint Venture has won recognition from the industry again for the Studio City project.
The project won in both the Construction/Engineering category and the Community Service/Regional Development category of HKIPM Project Management Achievement Awards 2016. The Awards are organised by the Hong Kong Institute of Project Management, which acknowledges and rewards excellent project management performance in engineering management and community service.
Studio City is the largest project PYE has ever undertaken in Macau. The main contract works for Studio City fell into two sections – the four-level podium with its hotel, gaming, retail and entertainment areas; and the 1,600-room hotel superstructure including the Golden Reel figure-8 Ferris wheel suspended between the two hotel towers.
The project was unique and each area presented its own challenges, which collectively required special expertise in the areas of construction, MEP and ABWF. With a site area of 130,789 square metres and gross floor area of 450,000 square metres, it was originally scheduled for completion in 31 months – a challenging target in terms of size and resources – but was completed ahead of schedule, in just 28 months.
One of the proudest achievements is that there were no fatal accidents during the peak construction period involving over 10,000 workers and 32 million man-hours. This demonstrates that the project team had implemented an effective and comprehensive safety management plan.
These awards recognise PYE’s extraordinary ability to perform well on unique and complex hi-tech projects. Whether its construction schedule, project quality or safety and environmental protection, PYE creates new indicators for the industry.
