Paul Y. Engineering wins Pointing and Calling Silver Award2013-09-08
Paul Y. Engineering is pleased to announce receipt of the Pointing and Calling Awards – Silver Award at the 12th Hong Kong Occupational Safety & Health Award Forum and Award Presentation Ceremony 2013, on 3 September. The Group won the award for outstanding pointing and calling performance on the HEC – Projects Division Contract: Improvement Works at Lamma Power Station. The occasion was a double celebration because colleague Mr. Wong Chi Ching of the Lamma project site, was honoured with the Occupational Safety and Health Worker – Bronze Award, co-presented by the Hong Kong Occupational Safety and Health Council and the Labour Department.
The Pointing and Calling work practice originated in Japan. It utilises an individual’s eyes, ears, mouth and hands to effectively reduce human error and to boost concentration, hazard awareness and team spirit. The Group incorporated the practice in the Lamma Project in 2013. Safety banners were displayed at the construction site to remind workers to take appropriate safety precautions when undertaking high-risk duties.
Thanks to the team's effective pointing and calling methods, the Lamma project has had zero accidents and injuries, and has not contravened safety laws and regulations.
